Replacing a board is not only expesive, but you run the chance of delaminating and worse neck warping. As for the Charvel gods.... I don't know they can be a bitchy bunch!! lol

I know it's expensive to replace the board. My point is that there are ways to get what you want, you just have to be willing to pay the price. Any competant luthier can replace a fret board safely enough, as long as you have the loot. My 650xl is nice, but the electronics are a bit fried, lots of bad solder connections and the finish of the thing has definitely seen better days. On top of that, the floyd is beat to hell. I was going to redo the electronics, including swapping out the stock pups for some nicer SD's, have the thing refinished and replace the floyd anyhow. So I am already looking at some cash output in the first place. That makes the idea of looking into a fret board replacement worthwile. I know someone who had it done on a 50's LP so I am a bit intrigued. Can you imagine a metallic red 650xl with a maple board, black OFR, duncan JB bridge pup and lil 59's in the neck middle pos? Man! That gets me psyched. As for the Charvel gods, I hope they forgive me if I get it done, but plenty here have done worse LOL. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]
