So I'm new here! I have been playing guitar for over 25 years now and this thing has opened up a whole new world for me! This guitar was something that was given to me by my best friends parents. He passed 11 years ago now, it has been sitting in a closet ever since. We were bandmates for 10+ years, he played other guitars but to have this is something that is really special to me. I am having it restored to the state it was in when it was put it in case. The fingerboard is lifting at the nut and there are some electronic issues that I am having sorted out by professionals.

I have attached a link with some pictures, I will be taking better looking ones in the future, I think this is a cool guitar to document. Any info on this guitar and its modifications would be greatly appreciated!

Very nice 475. To restore it and play it is paying a very high and meaningful tribute to your friend.

I hope your techs are able to fix the issues!

As for modifications, most of the guitar looks stock, except the bridge pickup could very well be a DiMarzio. The specific model of DiMarzio would normally identified underneath the baseplate. If your technicians don't tell you what it is when they're fixing the electronics issues, it's easy enough to remove and identify yourself after the guitar is back in your possession.

Thanks so much man! I have full faith in the people doing the restoration, it is a long wait list but definitely worth it. I have always played totally different guitars than this, my main guitars are an Ibanez semi-hollow, a Strat and a Danelectro so its pretty far out of my wheelhouse to say the least!

I've been thinking of what amp set up I would eventually like to go with, its been so long since I've looked at more high-gain type setups, there's so much out there now, what are your thoughts on a good direction to head towards, amp wise? Thanks again for your input!

That's a great guitar and a fitting tribute to your friend.

Can't wait to see it when it's finished!

Could have just taken the cover off the bridge pickup? I don't think it would sound very good with the mid boost and a high output pickup.
I've never tried it though, so that's just guessing..
Amp wise, pretty much anything that fits your taste.
They're a very versatile guitar. Most people back when you could find them every day would pull the pickups out and replace them. They sounded good enough for me though.
I know the old saying that the value of an opinion is generally inversely proportional to the strength with which it is held.
