  • Help identifying this Charvette

Hello everybody, I'm looking for a cheap guitar to use to make some videos of different pickup sounds, so a lot of soldering and work will be made on it.
I found this Charvette, the seller is asking 325,00 euros (it has two Seymour duncans in it).
Anybody can help me identifying it and finding out if it's worth it?
Here are three pics of it

    Not MIJ though
I know the old saying that the value of an opinion is generally inversely proportional to the strength with which it is held.

They only made two MIJ and they are short scale and have a normal spaced bridge posts

Thank you for the info. I think I'm going for it, do you believe it's a fair price or am I overpaying for it a lot?

Its probably the absolute most i would pay for a charvette. The duncans help a bit.

Thanks everybody. I ended up paying 300, shipping included.
let's see what happens, I'm going to definitely document the whole process of cleaning setting it up and I'll definitely block the trem bridge with some wood in the cavity.
I was looking for a cheap H-S guitar to test different pickups, this looked nice

Cool beans. Look forward to seeing how you mod it. I noticed in one of the pictures the neck has a factory "Made In Japan" sticker on it, and the neck has the narrow dot spacing too. I'd have thought MIJ too. I just picked a Charvette up to tinker with too. I got mine for 200 bucks out the door tax and all today.

Very nice and detailed video. Here's a video of mine I posted on Facebook a while back. I swapped the Bendmaster tremolo our for a Gotoh 1996T Floyd clone, and it's a heckuva upgrade. This guitar quickly became one of my favorites.

I forget where I saw it, and I am having trouble finding it, but on at least one occasion I have seen "before and after" photos of someone's Japanese Charvette where they sanded the Charvette headstock face to reveal a proper Japanese Charvel (CHARVEL!!!) headstock face hiding underneath! I am not sure if that applies to your model and I'll stop talking here because my knowledge on Charvette is very limited.

Great video as always! Loved the inclusion of "dad jokes" which I don't think I noticed on other videos you've posted here in previous years. You stifling your laughter at the final joke made me laugh.

I wanted to watch your video but I get this error message:

This content isn't available right now

When this happens, it's usually because the owner only shared it with a small group of people, changed who can see it or it's been deleted.

Try it again. I had it set to "Friends of Friends". It's public now.

There have been several guys on the Charvel facebook pages showing sanded headstocks. I'd bet mine is a Model series neck, but it's in such good shape I can't bring myself to sand it. Feels just like all my other Model series necks even down to the thick rosewood slab.

I needed a neck for my Fusion HH body and picked up a Charvette 170 neck that popped up on ebay. I was a little rough with the headstock already sanded so I don't know what the person that sanded it found underneath. That said it feels every bit as good as the necks on my Jackson Fusions or Charvel fusion I have. It's an earlier one I guess as it originally had a behind the nut string lock which didn't come with it so I converted it to a Floyd nut. My brother has a Charvette 270 and it has a Floyd nut.
