    Re: charvels v fenders question

I wouldnt do either. I'd just try to find all those wannabe guitars for cheap, and let him pay the extra dough for those guitars with baldie's name on them...........

he would probably pick a beat-up old chevy truck over a "toy" like a mazda RX-8 or an old Toyota Supra too.

Nothing wrong with that, although the truck would be way better if it had a diesel in it............

The singer in my band is a Fender fiend, and he liked my 375 lots better than my Model 4. And go ahead and let your friend think that way...since all the sheep bahhhhh their way to the Strats and Les Pauls, that makes the real guitars cheaper for those of us in the know!

                  Re: charvels v fenders question

I think it's human nature for the guy to think that a guitar that he happens to own is superior. It is unlikely that anything anyone says or writes is going to change his mind. Over the years, I've figured out that I don't know it all & there are some pretty amazing things out there that I haven't had a chance to try yet, so I'm not too quick to bad-mouth a particular brand just because it's not what I happen to own. Let the Fender guys believe what they want. More Charvels for us. I really think it's an apples to oranges comparison. Very different guitars built for very different approaches to playing, imo. The point made earlier about them retailing for more than USA strats at the time is true, though. Maybe a Model 1 or 2 would have cost less.

Yep I agree 100%. I could never see myself playing a les paul, I tryed a mates 30th(or 25th?!) anniversary USA one a while back and quickly went back to my Model 4M!

I absolutly love my 92 Jackson fusion H-H pro even with the cracks in the finish, dings here and there. It is the most comfortable easy playing guitar I have.Loaded with a OLD duncan JB in the neck and an OLDER duncan distortion in the bridge, with the mahogony body it is a tone monster.
                      Really? well screw Mark Twain.

i think dg's comments ring true.i started this thread because o was sick of naive caustic comments about charvels.
but like people say theres more charvels for us.as prices
could rocket if the fender lovers really knew about charvels.sends a shiver down my spine at the thought

not really i bought my Mod6 brand new it was $699 at sam ash,not usually known for good deals. i remember because they had just gotten in the model88 the single hum Mahagony body dinky w/reverse head & that was $50 more. I remember thinking why would I pay more for a bolton. BTW i still have the mod6 & it was the last import guitar i ever bought.
