Yep, you read that right, this was a project that I've been wanting to do for awhile now and with the help of Mark (MM2002), it's finally done. I had a Model 6 that needed some help and I love one-hum guitars so I figured what the hell! As you can see, Mark was kind enough to take a few pics of the paint process for me. He even thought he'd be his "funny self" and photoshop a fake hole location for the volume but I can see right through his evil schemes! The Paint is House Of Color's "NEON PINK" Same color as the Steve Vai Jem. There a lot of pics here so if it doesn't finish loading, just refresh the page and it should finish up for you.
Fake hole:
Filler/Primer:
First color coat:
Yes, it's really that bright folks, no tricks here!:
Clearcoat, as you can see, the clear coat actually "dims" the color a little:
Finished Product:
As you can see, it has a Kahler 3310 Pro installed which wasn't the original plan. I was going to do a string through with the ferrules but I'm just not sure if I like the "look" of that. I knew I'd love the 3310 and it's a great bridge. The EMG pickup that's in there now is just for show as I'll soon be replacing it with a Duncan Invader. I'm just dying to try one of those!
I blacked out the fretboard using "Fiebing"s" Oil Dye. Works excellent but be very careful you don't get it all over the place as it is a true "dye". It did not effect my inlays at all but I would imagine if you had pits or cracks in your inlays, it would show VERY easily. It also will stain the binding, so unless you plan on re-scraping the binding(which I knew I was going to do), you may just want to stay away from it.
A huge thanks goes out to Mark for spraying this for me as I have been very busy with my full time job and my side "gig" . He did a beautiful job and did it quick and painless, just like I like it!
Thanks again my friend-
Special thanks also goes out to Tom (surfdork), who sold me the Kahler 3310 Pro Fixed Bridge and Chuck (bloodsplatter) for telling me that Tom had the bridge I was looking for!!
Thanks guys!!
