• My freshly painted Model 88 - Go easy on me.

This is my first ever attempt at painting a guitar and while the results are not perfect, I am happy with how this turned out. I did the work in a state of the art downdraft auto painting booth and had some guidance from our painter. Here's the link - if anyone can put this pic in the thread it would be appreciated.

Newc has carte blanche if he chooses to tear this up - retribution for the Halford Warrior comments.

Looks pretty dang sweet. I can see some swirls that look like some overzealous buffing, but it doesn't look bad at all.

Very nice. Why did you paint the 88. Those had a pretty good natural finish on them. Was there something wrong with the paint job it had. Just curious.

BTW, Newc would have to paint the Mona Lisa on a guitar, blindfolded, left-handed, hanging upside-down, and most importantly - without using any damn pin-striping, to give you a hard time about that one.

                Thanks for the compliments.

VanO - I painted it because the body had been beaten to death. It was very badly damaged in two or three places and the finish had come off in those places. I was just tired of looking at it that way and figured if I could paint a motorcycle helmet, why not a guitar?

It also reminded me of the dumbas$ singer who hit it with his micstand every time we played. Now it doesn't.

I usually dont like flames AT ALL, but this. . .I really like, strangely.

Looks good. A pic with glare from the lights is the true test for the clear coat. Judging from the reflection of the bridge on the body, it looks great!
