• My model 5 mutt/project

This is my recently aquired Model 5...I got it as basically a body and neck stripped of most hardware. My intentions were to do it up over time, but I have stuck an old Ibanez humbucker in and wired it to a volume pot, stuck some strings on, done basic truss rod and intonation and stuff, and it sounds and plays great!

I'm half tempted to leave the Ibanez pup on and just play the thing!

Once you clean that up a bit it's going to be awesome.
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

Very nice! Would be nice to make a removable block of wood painted to match the guitar, so you could go nack to a 2 pickup guitar if needed. I just like the looks of a single hum guitar. Plus if you never use the neck pickup...

Hey...Ibanez INF pups don't sound too bad in my opinion.

Some of the old Ibanez artist pigkups sound quite nice. The super 70s are nice too.

That's a nice one. I had one just like it--a red '86 Model 5--for awhile. If you like Kahler bridges, you can't do much better than that. Since you don't have the original electronics, you should consider putting EMGs in that guitar. They sounded great in both of the Model 5s that I've owned over the years.

The model 5 I owned played awesome! That looks like a perfect project candidate. More pics when you're finished.

Congrats. They're great guitars. Great build quality. I bought mine new in '86 and refuse to part with it.
