I'm having some real problems playing my 750 XL. The firs thing is that the pickups are so close together that I hit the neck PU with my pick all the time. I have narowed the problem down to the Floyd that is on the guitar. It is the original one that sticks up in the back. Now I'm used to playing Ibanez LoPros and Gibson tunomatic bridges so I tink I'm moving my hand forward because I feel the back of the bridge. I like the feel of the guitar but I don't like the sound of the strings being picked that far forward or hitting the pickup. Is there any bridge that I can retrofit into this guitar? It is not routed under the Floyd so that may limit me some. I'm almost willing to try a Wilkinson on here or I may have to sell the thing

Re: 750 XL bridge??
Unfortunately a wilkinson won't just drop in if I recall, so you'd have to fill the holes and redrill (please don't do that). If you think about getting rid of it please let me know as I may be interested. Dave ->

Re: 750 XL bridge??
If it is a top mount, you should be able to drop a lo pro floyd (the pro? or a Jackson 580 LP?) with out a problem except that you may need to get the longer trem block. If not, just lower the neck pup down intot he slot (you will lose volume, but if you just use the bridge pup, that won't be a prob)

Re: 750 XL bridge??
Dave is right, a Wilk would require pulling the studs and redrilling. You could try a JT6 or the very original floyd style that has no fine tuners, which I happen to prefer if the fine tuners are an obstacle. You would probably have to replace the block as suggested by others but you could just swap it with the one you have.
Otherwise, you could pull the hum and replace it with a single coil and a modified humbucker ring with dummy slot.
Or, just sell the guitar and get a hardtail when they pop up, which would be a wait as you hardly ever see them for sale.

Re: 750 XL bridge??
Dang. I do use the neck pickup quite a bit and it is all the way down flush with the ring.EMGs also! The main problem I'm having is that I don't like the sound of the guitar when the strings are picked that close to the neck. It has a really bass muted tone.I think I'm just going to sell it and try something else.
It is a trans red in PERFECT condition if anyone is interested?????
