I was wondering if anyone knew what String Gage the 1988 Charvel Model 3DR came with?

most likely 9-42, possibly 10-46. If the originals are still on there, I would reccomend changing them!

9-42. That's what my 3DR had when I bought it new. It's also the defacto string gauge for pretty much every manufacturer, I think I can safely assume.

The only guitars that I know that have shipped with 10-46 are USA Jackson string thrus.

some of the new Fenders are shipping with 10s too, according to the website.

Reissue Fenders ship with 10's, "modern" Fenders ship with 9's, most Gibsons ship with 10's.
