Re: An import EVH?

An import EVH would be nice, but there's no way they'll allow a Strathead for it, and a pointyhead EVH is definitely a no-go.
Maybe if they did an arrangement with Warmoth to provide the necks, but I don't see that happening either.

Re: An import EVH?

An EVH with a pointy would be cool if it's priced right - you can call up Warmoth and get a Strat head yourself. I would definitely go for a black/white and black/yellow imports to go with my red/white/black USA one.

Good call, Tim. If they did a pointy, I'd get the b/y in a heartbeat, put a Warmoth neck on it, then put that (hopefully) sweet maple-boarded pointy neck on a Model 2.

You said the same thing about stratheads when FMIC bought Jackson didn't you? I think if there is a market with the EVH name anything is a possibilty

You said it Kev. I spoke with a couple non-forum dealers recently and they can't get the EVH's in stock fast enough. An import Charvel in EVH graphics would do way very well I think. If they got the Fender Mexico facility to build them it would fuckin' rule.

Wolfgang's are good guitars but nobody would have given them a second thought without the EVH association - same with the Axis.

Eddie sells guitars - plain and simple.

Oh, wait a minute, isn't that what the Charvel Model series used to be?Plus a cool EVH paint job? Yeah,I'd still take 2 to start with.........

Now that I thought about it, wouldn't it just be a model 4 with a strathead and cool paintjob?
Or a 3 without pickguard?

I said what Morgan backed up - that a Production Model Strathead ain't gonna happen.
A limited-run EVH Strathead series and a few Special Edition Stratheads are not as much competition for Fender Strats as a full-on Import production run would be, regardless of whose name is attached to it.
I'm actually surprised they did more EVHs than the Ebay ones, but I do have to wonder how long they will run, given FMIC's official stance stated previously.

Look at it this way - if I'm proven wrong, you can be happy all day
I win either way, cuz I'll either be proven right or pleasantly surprised

Newc, please don't go putting words into the guy's mouth. They've never said production (...or custom, for that matter) stratheads "ain't gonna happen". All they've ever said is basically "no, not yet". ...It MIGHT never actually happen, but they've never actually said or implied anything to that effect. I realize that's probably just your interpretation, but I think they've intentionally chosen their words on this subject carefully. Most likely to keep their options open.

Re: An import EVH?

If they did an import EVH, it would be insanely priced, in my opinion. I guess we're lucky here in Oklahoma - generally speaking, we find decent bolt on Model series charvels all the time for $300 or less. I bought my nephew a nice charvel 3dr that just needed a little polishing and setup/cleaning for $99 with a floyd rose trem.

Heck, really nice/clean model series charvels go on the board all the time... I really don't see why Charvel would want to go back to imports, didn't they lose their ass on the last series of import charvels?

Re: An import EVH?

I have it on authority that JCMI will focus on the USA series for now. They want to focus on one market and try to get as close to perfection with it before taking on another market. To me, that is great news.

I'm sure if a return to the import market is to happen, it will be in the long-term and after a lot of discussion and planning. With the last imports that didn't do so well, I'm sure they'll want to analize what happened there and improve upon the experience.

What happened to the last import series, mainly was that fugly headstock I think, and dinky bodies.

I would buy an import EVH if it cost no more than a DK2 (since they would be cheaper to make than the DK2 with less routing, less electronics, less inlays, no binding), but that won't happen so I'd rather get an 80's Charvel instead.
