Re: Mod 6 question

[ QUOTE ]
That's a cool looking one. I would think a Kahlered may
sound fuller over a floyded model for the exact reason
you state. My Charvy(Bengal) is a single hum with a Kahler
and the kahler is original so there is no routing in the
body and it sounds different from my single hum floyded guitar(s).
I don't know if fuller is the right word to use
but it definitely sounds better (at least to me) the sound
jumps out at you.

[/ QUOTE ]

you mean it has more "presence"?

I'm thinking a Kahlered Model 6 is "warmer" meaning less "bright" as compared to a floyded Model 6. Yes? That's the way it seemed to me.

I would have guessed it would be a little more pronouced in the midrange, and possibly have a bit more sustain. Nice guitars. It's tempting

This certainly sums up mine. I got to A/B my model 5 next to a friend's model 5, both with the same pickups (JB bridge, Jazz neck). He had a Floyd, I had a Kahler, and mine was a little warmer, with more pronounced mids and a bit more sustain. His had more cut, which was great for solos, and mine had more meat, great for rhythm.

I'll need to get another one then ;-) I got sidetracked looking for SD Soloists and this closed without me bidding. $416 with case, can't go wrong for that.

Anyone seen the fire crackle 6 in the bay? It's so close to my house. I'm going to try and grab that one I think, chipping paint or not.

Actually, I bid on it, not seriously though. I figured, since I have a place in Matawan, it would be an easy run to get it...I'll see

I wonder how much it will take to get it? It's got the nice color but the chips alongside the neck...I asked him if the fretboard was coming loose, or the binding, and he said no. I have a crack in the finish of my 6 that runs the whole length of the neck, so I'm not put off by something I won't feel, but if it's not just the paint...I don't know.

I imagine it'll be up in the 400-450 range by close-out.
