• Mod 6 question

I'm looking at this guitar on eblow:

http://cgi.msn.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI...303971450&rd=1

It looks like it could possibly be a 1986 Mod 6. It has Kahler, but did the 86' Mod 6's have sharkfins or just regular dots?

Looks like two of the three switches have been changed. Ask if the electronics are stock or if they have been mucked around with.

Thanks guys. Was just curious. I have a 87 Mod 6 w/fins, I just wasn't sure about the 86.

Looks nice. I just prefer the Floyd to the Kahler. Love the color.

Yeah, mine has a Floyd. I've never dealt with Kahlers.

Definitely a 6, looks just like mine.

It was the model 4 that had dots and kahler in 86.

easy to tell as well to the number of frets: 24 frets, sharkfins --> model 6 or 650xl and the bridge tells which one it is: kahler --> model 6

nice colour

Hi Jim
Nah, I was just curious. The Mod 6 I own is perfect, although that color is pretty nice.

Re: Mod 6 question

I have a Mod 6 that is just amazing, love it to death. Mine has a Floyd on it though, and I was wondering if one with a Kahler might sound a little "fuller" with the same pickups because the spring cavity hasn't been routed out. I don't use the trem enough for it to make a big difference to my playing. Does anyone by chance have one of each, a Floyd and a Kahler?

Thanks!

Re: Mod 6 question

That's a cool looking one. I would think a Kahlered may
sound fuller over a floyded model for the exact reason
you state. My Charvy(Bengal) is a single hum with a Kahler
and the kahler is original so there is no routing in the
body and it sounds different from my single hum floyded guitar(s).
I don't know if fuller is the right word to use
but it definitely sounds better (at least to me) the sound
jumps out at you.
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

That one is exactly the same as mine, right down to the same case, except for the color and the two silver switches (mine are all like the black one). It sounds and plays great. I bet that price will shoot up another $150 before the auction is over.
