Strathead Import (pics)

I picked this up in a pawn shop in carson city for 250 a while back, has anyone seen one like it, no scarf-joint at neck,truss adjustment at heel, and old school Floyd with no fine tuners,and a FT Worth plate, gimme some thoughts,also oversize pu ring, so one would think late 80's right? [image][/image] [image][/image] [image][/image]And that's a screen printed logo on there

Hard to say.

Some of the non-US market Charvel model series were made with strathead necks. I haven't seen one in a long time. There are other more recent models that were made with stratheads, but they were dead-on San Dimas in appearance (truss plug, headstock shape, skunk stripe, etc). But this one is not. Too many non-CJ characteristics about this one for me to say. Stratheads do not have a scarf joint.

If it were japanese market only, it would not have an address on the plate, so I haven't a clue.

I'm perplexed on this one.

The CX series (92) were originally planned with Stratheads, but there were only a few made and they were distributed everywhere besides the US.

The logo suggests to me that this was made somewhat later than the Model series. With the 3/3 logo, I'm speculating that it could be from about 94-96 around the time when they did the San Dimas reissues. However, the CHS series (95-97) were also made around that time and they had the pointy guitar logo. As was mentioned before, the strathead was probably for outside of US production.

It's a great looker, for sure. I'd kill to find one around here myself, especially with the original Original Floyd Rose.

I'ts got to be one of my favorite players, sets next to my bed, and plays like a dream, and check this out it has a 1 9/16 nut width.

What I can tell you from looking at it, these necks were common back in 90's in Japan.
They were on many guitars mostly Strat body with SSH or SSS and no locking nut.
The body, it seems like Model 2 body with swapped trem bridge.

So I should say it is a Charvel parts guitar.
Very cool looking and seems like it plays fantastic!

I think it's a parts guitar too. Charvel 3D plates with the Ft Worth addy? That's a USA only neckplate. Non-US market guitars have identical 3D neckplates without the address on them.

Correct on the logo on that one. Early to Mid 90's.

That type of neck was found on the CST Series of Charvels from around 1992. Specifically the one's with a v-trem. There were six guitars in the series, two with Floyds, and two with gold hardware and v-trem, and two more in black with v-trem. So it's probably a neck from a CST-050-SSS or a CST-050-SSH, which are the two that had v-trem and black hardware.

The CST were Japanese only of course. Around the same time there were Stratheads made of other markets using the toothpaste Charvel logo. I have a CX291 like that.

I'm dying to see if that Floyd was added. Pop it off and see if there are Vintage Trem holes!!

In the mid 80's I put locking nuts on a couple friends Kramer Strikers, they later added a Fine Tuner Floyd. I had 3 of those non fine tuner Floyds until a few years ago.
