I'm glad to have it back! I'll shoot some pix once I have it cleaned up and refretted. Model 5's are my personal faves from that series.

Glad to hear that you got it back. I'm with you on the Model 5.

Nice to see you found your ole'friend.
I sold a B.C. Rich Warlock back in the 80s that was my first "metal guitar" and would like to find it again for sentimental reasons.Did not play as smooth as my Mod 6 but she was my first.
            Enjoy your find !!

Got the fretwork and nut done today and plays like $1,000,000 now. Dunlop 6000's are great on these guitars, same width as the old frets with a little more height. Just have to drop in the electronics tomorrow and restring it and it's done.

Wow, that looks almost brand new!!

Like you, I also had an '86 Model 5 that was one of the best sounding guitars I ever owned. Maybe it's the Kahler factor. The ones with the JT-6 licensed Floyd don't ever seem to sound as good, even though I'm a fan of Floyded guitars.

Sadly, my Model 5 had a warped neck, and I ended up selling it for a pittance.

Yea, except for the frets, it as in pretty good shape for a 19 year old guitar. When I had it apart I hit the buffing wheel to shine it back up and it looks nice. I have a JT-6 Model 5 and Model 6 that don't come even close to the tone this thing puts out.

Looks great. Good luck. Here's my '86. All original. Still plays and sounds great.

                          Re: Model 5 happy ending

I just bought an 87 model 5 in pearl white metallic. In very solid condition too,I was wondering what pickups were original in these and the selector switch that was used? because there is a 5 way mega swith in there now.
This one has the original pickups with active mid boost. There is a Floyd Rose original in place of the JT-6.
This must be a late 87 because of the JT-6.
Serial number is on the back of the headstock.
                          Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Jackson J-80c in the neck and bridge.
They used a propriatary Jackson JE-0005 5 way switch, similar in operation to a Mega Switch.
