Re: Help me ID this \'84 Charvel. New to the club too!

As a newbie to this forum -Hi to you All btw- and as an co-owner of a complete stock Model 2

I just wanted to add some extra info taken from the 1986 Charvel catalog directly:

    [<a href="http://users.pandora.be/peter.brosens/jcfonline/cat_1986charvel_page11.jpg" target="_blank">page1
    - Charvel Model 2 specs</a>]

for anyone out there who's interested

Thanks for the info and pic..I loved the Kahler Fulcrum on my Mod 2, I never had any playing, tuning issues with it at all but then again I'm very careful with Tremolos and I'm not a big "dive-bomber" either. I'd love to have all the Charvels back I once owned.

<u>my thoughts exactly</u>, the Fulcrum doesn't give me any tuning headaches and string changing is childs play. I only regret having had almost all manufacturers in my closet, and only now beginning to appreciate the Charvels/Jacksons. And these Model 2's you can get in europe for a bargain, I've paid approx $100 for mine (in original vg condition).

and for those who want to upgrade this single locking trem, I've seen one retrofitted with a Kahler 2700 double locking trem

Got my Kahler parts. I ordered them Saturday, they came Wednesday. Great service. The new tuner things look to have been redesigned. They have more beef where the threads are and have a part at the back that string ball seats into. Much improved. I also got the "repair kit" for the trem that included almost every bit of hardware, springs, etc that you could want. Only bad thing was that the tuner screws themselves are no longer available in black, so they are brass colored. I totally rebuilt the bridge last night, and I'm impressed with the engineering when compared to a traditional trem.

So overall, we can thrash these Kahlers now and not worry about parts!

Yeah, I got my studs yesterday from Kahler. Quick service. As for the 2700, I ve got one of those hanging around too. I think kahler calls it the killer. I'll have to see how it fits on the model 3 body that has the fulcrum.
