So I've been told that the model series/Toothpaste Charvel necks are interchangeable. My question is this, how much did the profile vary? I was thinking about trying to find a maple fretboard neck to put on the 275 dlx I just got. The thing is, I really like the profile of the current rosewood boarded neck. I was originally going to throw a Warmoth neck with the Wolfagang carve on it, but it's just too damn comfortable to give up.

Re: Model series/Toothpaste necks
To me, the toothpaste necks are a bit thinner than the original Model series necks. They don't have the thick poly coat on them either.
I remember when a buddy of mine bought a 375. He wanted a Charvel because he liked my Model 2. He loved the necks but I didn't care for them. Ibenhads were the big thing at the time and to me the toothpaste Charvels were trying to keep up with the Ibenhads with the thinner neck profile. To me it felt nothing like my Model 2.

[/ QUOTE ] Well said. I have a Model 3A with a neck from a 375, and it was a perfect fit. At first I thought the OFR sat too high off the body due to the angle of the neck. But when I compared it to my other 3A (original neck), they're the same.

How did the backshapes compare?

I honestly don't remember as it was probably close to ten years ago now. I don't remember having any issues with it though.Good deals with:
