Re: Opinions on the Jackson Trem found on Model 2s, 3s
The JT6 works well, I just hate the fine tuners. If it is in good condition, you should have no trouble with it. Once it starts going bad, replace it with a Schaller or OFR.Scott

Re: Opinions on the Jackson Trem found on Model 2s
I wish they had made them of better metal, but I kind of like the design. I like the placement of the fine tuners, but they can be a bit of a pain to adjust. They also have a slightly narrower string-spacing than an OFR. I agree w/ what Stuka said, & I think they work fine as long as they are in good shape, but once they start to go downhill they aren't worth fighting with & trying to rehab, imo.

Yep, that more or less sums it up.. Great design, works great, but bad choice of materials in 2 or 3 spots (Baseplate, Block, locking screws...). But at least an OFR is a direct retrofit in most cases, or grab one for parts off eBay if you can find one, they can usually be had for under 50 bucks

What kind of Floyd or Schaller did you replace the original trems with?
I replaced mine with a Schaller Floyd Rose, but the guitar repair guy had to replace the two screws that the original Jackson was "hangin onto" with to narrower ones, so he had to fill the two holes, and then drill two new holes into the filled wood.
Did you also have to do this???

Re: Opinions on the Jackson Trem found on Model 2s
A Schaller or Original Floyd Rose should be able to work fine with the JT-6 posts, as long as they're in decent shape. The spacing is the same (or extremely close). You lose a little bit of the full range of motion that you'd get with the correct posts, but not much.

[/ QUOTE ] I had GMW put a new Schaller on my Model 6 when they refinished it and the posts were also replaced.
