whats the difference between different Charvels?

Models 1-7 or whatever and the 650xl and I guess there is a 750xl?

What are the differences?

Years and logos.

Models 1-88 had the white guitar shaped logo with the pointy headstock. They were made between 1986 and 1988.

The 275DLX, 475DLX, 650XL and all the other models in between had a script logo similar to that of the Jackson logo. They were made between 1989 and 1991.

I just picked up what I think is a used 650xl. I dont know anyting of Charvels so I am trying to learn all I can...

I don't remember well, but they r sites that give you that info. if not, try to see the catalogs from that time.

Jacksonite check out the gallery there is just about one of every model in there.
The 650 and 750 were probably the best Japanese Charvels made. Their quality and playability rival the US Jacksons from the same time period.

Yes, they're all Japanese imports.

750 is a 24 fret - 24.74 scale, H/H, some were string thru.
650xl is 25.5, H,S,S, all the 650XL's that I know of were floyd equiped.

The 650XL is a great guitar, probably the best I've ever played (and I played a couple of new USA Jacksons and Fender Strats at a shop last month).

I've just put a Duncan Custom Custom on it and sounds amazing for leads, really sweet.

You really can't go wrong with a 650xl or 750xl. I've got a 650xl that I bought new in 92 and it is still my go to guitar for pure tone and feel. I just got my 3rd 750xl today, all 3 string thru. Those things are amazing guitars.

750 is 24 3/4" scale?? Any other Charvel or jacksons the "gibson" scale length?

The Fusions were also short scale.
The early USA Warriors and Warrior Pro's were as well.
