• does this ever make you -almost- mad?

some of these import charvels are ridiculously nice. sometimes it ticks me off when my $250 Charvel Fusion plays better than some of my more *expensive guitars. why cant all guitars play this good!?!?

I agree , I pickup a Fusion Pro(1990) for stupid cheap and it has become my favorite. It plays better than my USA strat and its more expensive brothers the Archtop Pros.

Almost mad, until I realize that I've spent less on amazing players than others have spent on "insert over priced brand name here" guitars.

while agree with you, only to a certain extent. The reality is that it's all personal preference in how a guitar feels for each individual. I just happen to really like the way the cheaper import Charvels "feel" as opposed to higher priced guitars but in the same token, I love the way my Les Paul feels, just as much, so it kind of cancels out that theory. Did that make sense?

J/K man, you're making perfect sense. Some people actually prefer the feel of a Hondo to a Custom Shop Jackson as well. Different strokes for different folks.

I definately prefer the feel of my $400 MIM Tele than any Les Paul I have ever played ay any price. And while my 750XL is amazing to play and sounds killer, it doesn't seem to have the same magic...

My Predator plays and sounds better than an almost any guitar I have ever owned. I am curious to see how the Model 3A holds up. I should know this weekend.

Sleep. The sound doesn't collapse to riffs of early eyes either.

it doesn't make me mad, but it has seriously raised my standards when trying out guitars. Particularly when considering the bang:$$$ ratio. A guitar (new or secondhand) had better be pretty bloody special for the $$$, it has a lot to stack up against with my cheapo collection of import Jackson & Charvels at home.

Yep, which is exactly why I want to try a new San Dimas. I want to see is they really are superior to the vintage imports. I continue to be incredibly surprised by how good my Predator sounds. The neck is like magic for me, it is comfortable..and it has really responded to pickup changes. It was incredible with a Tone Zone, and just about orgasmic with a Blues Saraceno in it. I have owned probably 40 guitars in my life...most of them much more pricey than the Predator. The only other guitars that had as much "mojo" as this Predator, that I bought for $172.50 shipped, were my '63 Strat and my '82 Silverburst Les Paul Custom. All others have fallen by the wayside. The Charvel kills.

One real important point needs to be made here.

Twenty years ago when they were new they weren't cheap bottom of the line guitars. The Model series guitars are inexpensive today on the used market. Todays prices don't reflect the quality and playability of these sleeper guitars. Their prices are slowly creeping up.
