• Bolt on Tootpastes wood? may have the answer here!

Found it on a swedish site, a 375 stripped down to bare wood.
Just thought it would be interesting to know, some say poplar, some say basswood.
I´m no expert, but i am sure some other people here can tell...
So give me your thoughts on this!

Poplar has a greenish tint to it.

Definitely basswood. It's way to light in weight to be poplar (which is heavier). I have a desert crackle body 375 I'll be selling tonight. I also have a fusion deluxe - same basswood body.

Ok, thanks for the help, i was almost sure that my 375 was poplar.
But whatever, it sounds amazing anyway, so i guess i like basswood

Basswood gets a bad rap, but plenty of people like it. My only problem with it is that it tends to be more soft & ding-prone than alder, ash, etc.

I totally agree. Ibanez and Gibson (in the past) have used this wood as well.

I've just had mine running for two days, and what I notice is the neck is heavier than the body. Not really an issue for me, but some complain about neck heavy guitars.

Not a problem with my 375 anyway, just use a leather strap.

<font color="aqua">Not sure if you guys knew this but some of these, at least the ones I've had, have a thin veneer over the top and back of the guitar. I'm guessing this was to help "hide" the seems in the body if they ever moved over time or possibly it just makes it easier to "finish". Here's a shot that you can see the top veneer very well:

That's wild. I have the same thing happening with a 1980's Aria maple body. At first I thought cool, a one piece hunk of maple. But further sanding revealed a pancake butcherblock sandwich.
