• Looking for some new pick-ups

Hi, I am looking for a good online site to purchase some Dimarzio pick-ups for my 750XL. I've decided on the super distortion in the bridge and the air zone in the neck. I want creme/black zebra coils, but I need your help.

Which spacing will I require for the 750XL with a string thru bridge? I've came across some information but I just want to make sure. Will the standard spacing be fine? or should I put F spaced in the bridge and standard in the neck...I need some help.

II. I need a good site to buy dimarzio's online with the zebra coils, everywhere i go, i just find either creme or black. Any good sites?

Let me know, thanks. I apologize if you feel dimarzio is blashpemy as I realize a lot of jackson/charvel players generally prefer duncans.

I am not a Dimarzio guy so I can not help you there. But as far pickups I have two Jackson Archtop pros string throughs(the 750s cousin) with Seymour Duncans one has a Dual distortion setup and the other a Custom and 59.One has trem spaced in the bridge and the other a non.The trem version is only slightly out of line and it is on the low E everything else is mostly down the center of the poles.

Out of the two I enjoy the sound of the Custom/59 setup better. The distortions are a bit muddy IMO.

First off, I've got a couple of string thru 750xl's myself. I've got a Distortion/Distortion combo in one and a Distortion/Jazz in the other. The regular spacing works fine, and lines up quite well. There is no need to get trem spaced pickups.

Second off, don't listen to Mike. The Distortion is anything but muddy. He doesn't know what he's talking about.

Third, as far as a place to find DiMarzios, sorry I'm a Duncan guy. Any dealer can get you zebra pickups. It just depends on how long you want to wait.

There's a guy on eBay (banjomikez) who also has a retail store in PA that carries DiMarzios & Duncans in all kinds of colors, lots of zebra coils, etc. If he doesn't have it up on eBay, email him with what you're looking for.

dg, thanks for the link. I've found some pick-ups on the net, but like I said, I've been unsuccessful finding zebra coils. I guess I'll either have to scour harder or wait like 3 monthes at my local dealer.

Regular spacing is what I need then.

          Thanks a lot guys.

Okay, I've come across an issue.

Travis tells me that the regular spaced pick-ups work fine and line up quite well.

After e-mailing dimarzio, they suggest a spaced bridge pick-up and standard for the neck.

              Help me out.

I'm looking at one of my 750xl's with a regular spaced Duncan Distortion right now. The pole pieces line up damn near perfectly. Let me see if I have a pic that show it.

Re: Looking for some new pick-ups

Well, of the pics I have, this is the best one. It's not great, but if you look closely you can see the strings lining up. Due to the angle, it looks like the high E is slightly wide of the pole. In reality it is not.

In the end, either pickup will work fine and I doubt you will hear a difference anyway. Usually the regular spaced pickups are a little cheaper. Go with one of those and if it doesn't work out, both Duncan and DiMarzio have exchange policies.

And by the way, never doubt my powers.

Yes, Mike is very cool. I ordered a Super 2 from him a year or so ago.
Another guy I bought a few DiMarzio pups and accessories from was Brian Calvert at www.universaljems.com He's also a member here (BeCalvert) but hasn't posted in a very long time. He can get you any color you need direct from DiMarzio (at a discount, of course, from what you'd pay if you ordered directly from DiMarzio).

That's interesting, I wonder why there are people who say otherwise, when they appear to line up perfectly.

Now that I think of it, my friend has a couple of different pick-ups lying around at his place, I'll measure the spacing with the ones that are in there and see what the deal is.

Travis, I love that picture of the two cherry sunburst axes, just like mine. Beautiful instruments.

i use dimarzios on my left handed charvel 475. i use a super 3(bridge)2 fast rack 2(n/m)i turned preamp boost to another tone for the neck pickup, then 2 tone for the middle pickup.the guitar finish is metallic black so i got all white pickups.looks and sounds cool.ill use any pickup that sounds good to me.i had a friend who used a humbucker from hell in bridge position and one of those chrome covered single coils you find in teles. in the neck.
