Corect me if I'm wrong but aren't the charvel(pointies) neck pockets 2-1/4" wide? Warmoth necks are 2-3/16" wide. So it would fit but there would be 1/32" gap on either side.

Slash is correct. Model neck pockets are 2 1/4", Warmoth necks are 2 3/16". You'll end up with a vary small gap that won't make one bit of difference. The Warmoth neck will bolt up, no sweat.

However.

Warmoth necks often need a fret level as the frets are installed, but not necessarily finished. The better plan is a used Warmoth neck that has had this work done. You will no doubt have to bend a bit on what you want, but in the long run it's smarter money.

Ah well... 120 euros for a fret crowning he said (I think he meant levelling + crowning... Or I hope). Seems like a decent price but I thought it'd be way cheaper. That means no Floyd, but I could get a non Trembucker FullShred and a new pickguard and put the TB into the 1a and the BillLawrence that's on the mail into the middle position of the model 4... I think I'll do just that [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Excuse me for asking but...how is a new pickup and pickguard going to help with the neck problem? If it was me I'd either get the fret issue dealt with, or just sell the guitar and look for another model series...

Oh it won't, I just wanted this guitar to mess about with :P That's why I got a cheap one (200 euros... Eh you're Swedish so you know that's cheaper than even a Squier Standard [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]). It's just that with the money I'll have left after the fret work, I won't have enough for more expensive mods than that :P I already bought the Bill Lawrence too.
And yeah... I could indeed sell it but I don't want to go through ebay or selling, so it'd be Dutch sites and I don't speak Dutch and I kinda promised myself that I'd put all my TLC into her and turn her into a supermodel. She shall be a player no matter what [img]/images/graemlins/cool.gif[/img]

And HOLY SH*T!!! ALL the frets on the model 1a are high! No wonder it was causing problems... On another hand I'd think that if they're all high together (none are higher than others [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]) then it wouldn't be that bad ... ah well I'll see next week.

Maybe you could try and do the fret levelling yourself? If it's a beater guitar it would be good to learn on...and as long as you don't screw up the fretboard, you can always have it professionally refretted or re-levelled/crowned later.

I have done a few "spot efforts" with a small file on some of my guitars in the past, but I think I will try and learn the craft of doing fretwork properly, including binding if possible. I figure it would save me cash in the end. So, I'm planning to take my Model 6 to my tech for a refret/level/crown and ask if he can teach me how it is done. [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

Yeah, I wanted to do that first. First mistake: it's too nice a guitar to be a beater [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] I'm going to try to find a cheap Squier or so neck and refret it 10 times until I do it right.
Good idea about the tech, that's what I want to do as well. How much does yours charge you for that you think?

Bleh... The techs here charges 120 for a fret dress... For 100 euros more I could get a warmoth neck or for even less another model series neck. Is it even worth having it repaired? I'd rather get the Warmoth neck and deal with it, keeping the model 1a's as a practise neck or for another guitar later.
So I can:
Get the neck repaired
Get a warmoth neck and wait a bit for a fretwork (if it needs it)
Get another model series neck
Sell the whole guitar and get another (I'll have 500 euros... Not enough for a COW DK6 [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] but enough for a DX10 for instance)
