Ahhh that's good then... Thanks.
That's a darn sweet idea. Should you want the locknut out for another project you can just get one of Budmans' (thanks again!) 3 holes truss rod cover, take out the shim and there!
Well I guess this can be locked now
Did you have those new? I had an 86 that was a "one owner" guitar with the Kahler and it did indeed have the shim under the stringlock. As always though with the Model series...anything apparently was possible.
I didn't buy them new, as I didn't start playing then. But the one was a 1-owner who didn't modify anything., and the other was pawnshop find that had a 1/4 inch of dust on it, and looked it be otherwise unaltered, though I can't be certain with that one.
This isn't to say that the shims didn't come with some of the Kahler trems, as I have seen those too, but I think the earlier ones did not come with them. All the ones I've seen with the JT6 Floyd with the Kahler-"copy" stringlock had the shims too. This is the one that has the flathead screws to lock the strings. The 4-screw spacing footprint that drilled into the shims for these are slightly wider than those made for the real Kahler stringlocks. I've come across a "transitional" shim as well that had 2 sets of holes drilled into the shim and the neck..I guess this was when they started running out of the Kahlers and needed to use the copy ones?
