    Re: Fusion variations

That's a Fusion Special. It would have had the slanted double singles in the bridge. Charvel also had the Fusion Deluxe with a H/slant single. There were also a couple of other variations, H/S/S and H/H. I think the Jackson Pro was the H/H and the Jackson US and the Charvel Fusion Custom were the H/S/S, but I could be wrong about that.

      Re: Fusion variations

I now have a 90 fusion pro, a fusion HH, and this one, they all have different bridge recesses the Pro has a Schaller, the HH a Jackson, and this one I am guessing takes a Lo pro. floyd, the routing slopes back on about a 20 degree angle on the transition from the cut out cavity to the narrow cavity.

I have 2. Both say Fusion SP in the neck. 1 came with 2 slanted singles in the bridge. The other is exactly like your's. The Japanese must have flipped a coin to decide what route to cut out. The stamping makes no indication.

I'll be getting rid of one of them soon. Check classifieds for details in the next week or so.

The Charvel Fusion Special (1990-1992) had the double-single route and the Jackson Fusion SP (1992) had the humbucker route.

              Re: Fusion variations

Todd, were both the Jackson and Charvel Special routed for that single locking bridge, or just the Charvel? Or was the route the same regardless?

The route is the same regardless. The single locking Floyd is the same style and dimensions as a Schaller Floyd.

That's what I was thinking. Thanks, Todd.

                    Re: Fusion variations

I have two Charvel Fusion Deluxes. Both are with Schaller Floyds.

I wired one with an EMG81 + EMG-S 18volts, and don't remember it being too difficult. Use a DMM / continuity tester to figure out which switch lug position is for bridge or neck, and which lug is for output.

Also, one of mine (with EMG's) needed oversized pickup rings and the other used normal sized rings. I picked up the custom pickup ring for EMG's from budman (Dave).

                      Re: Fusion variations

                      Here's mine:

Left - I replaced the humb with SH-8.
Right - I had the 2 singles routed for humb. It didn't look good so I filled it in. Replaced the neck single with a DiMarzio Hotrail. Currently it's sanded, neck off, in need of home soon.

                          Re: Fusion variations

The humbucker SP came with a Shaller Charvel locking with course threaded posts. It had lots of play in it and wouldn't stay in tune. The trem bar was a push-in that wouldn't stay in either.

The dual-singles SP came with a Shaller Charvel non-locking with fine threaded posts. It was tight but I hated the non locking thing. The trem bar was a screw on.

I tore both trems apart and made one I like.
