• Super clean Model 6 in black cherry

I was travling this weekend to see family and freinds, stopped in at a Guitar Center and found this one. I've been wanting another model 6 and I've been keeping my eye out for one in black cherry. I can't believe how minty this one is - not a nick, scratch, chip, dent, pick mark or even a polish swirl on it! The "Made in Japan" sticker is on the back of the headstock and the truss rod cover still has plastic on it. Just needs a little oil on the fretboard and a good setup and it's ready to play.

This is an '87 model based on the serial number but it's on the back of the headstock and not stamped into the last fret like my other model 6. Does anyone know why they are different? Did earlier models have the serial number on the headstock and later models start with the fretboard stamping? Other than that, I haven't noticed any difference yet.

By the way, it didn't come with the trem bar. Does anyone have an extra trem bar they can part with? This is the kind that just pops into the trem. Shoot me a pm if you do.

Happy Halloween!

Wow, what a beauty!

Btw, mine is an 87 as well, and it also has the serial on the back of the headstock. A decal under the clearcoat it seems.

Very nice

What's the serial number, I bet it's an early one.

I had an '87 Model 5 with the SN on the back of the headstock. Even weirder, it had a Kahler. Only '87 I've seen with a Kahler.

Thanks guys. The serial number is on a decal under the clear coat. It's C703575. And since some of you have asked, I paid $435 out the door with a HSC. Coming from GC (who over prices everything) I think it was a killer deal!

Those are on/off switches for each pickup. Notice there's no selector switch for the pickups?
I used to have a black cherry Model 6 just like that. They rock!!

That's a killer guitar. One of my favorite colors. I think you got a good deal on that one in that condition.

Good price, great score...

I bought my Charvel 475 at GC, still plastic on all plates, minty new a few years ago, for $215... So, I love that feeling.

Sweet man, very,,,

Serial # C703575. That would make it the 3,575th Japanese neck through make in 1987. Not an early one, mmm. I wonder when they started stamping the SN in the fretboard.

Still very cool, and an excellent price
