I'm not even going to ask about your wife abusing you because you may get some guitar specs wrong. (sounds like someone needs to Home Depot, aisle 4 for a pair of brass ones...)

Cheers mate your a diamond..i found similar guitars on Google but none had the AAAA neck or Bill Lawrence humbucker
and none with the quilted top. By the way I used to work at Fender GBI until last October and these guitars would not sell at all!

None of the catalogs list the grade of the quilt of the neck on this model from what I remember**, so buyer beware on that, it's the seller's opinion and not based on any written fact.

**I'll look at it again tonight to verify.

Looks like you won it! 499GBP is about $USD866, which is more than these go for in the states, but probably good for GB. I never recall ebony ever having a grade, but the ebony on these is the nicest/darkest/practically no grain that I've ever seen, so it is nice ebony.

As the auction mentions, the pickups have been changed out, should have come with Pearly Gates in the bridge and two single sized little scremin demons.

Here's a pic of my Model A+ in similar color:
Model A+ front
Model A+ rear

Congrats and welcome to the board! Let us know how it plays when you get it.

Sorry, off topic, but hey Tekky, I'm just curious about the brass ones?? I'm still using the old aluminum ones I got years ago and my wife is still pretty hard on me. Are the brass ones everything everyone says they are? Is it really worth the investment to upgrade? If so I may just make the move.

If Todd doesn't mind I'd like to step in and help out. The brass are definitely a major improvement as the quality is so much better. The resonance is unbelievable and just the sheer beauty of the luster that one can get from polishing them. I would say the only drawback is the fact that they weigh so much more than the lightweight aluminum variety but quite honestly, I'll never go back....

Thanks Dave, that was very enlightening. I may make the switch. Is the weight that big of deal? I mean, will my factory pouch carry them no problem? Just curious.

this has at last cleared up the mystery..any idea what it cost when it was new. two new pick ups in it look like Fender Noisless Black cover pick-ups,I would have preferred the Seymour Dunc's

Re: guitar without a name

These originally cost between $900 to $1200USD sell price when they first came out, MSRP was higher naturally. The Model A's have been showing up on ebay from $450 to $600, Model A + about the same, maybe slightly higher, and the Model A + koa ones about $750USD on ebay.

Someone snagged a great deal on this koa (originally listed at $699 buy-it-now: ebay auction

I found some old internet price links:
Model A
Top of the A plus line: Koa version

Here's a thread in German about your model/color...he guy is asking people about the guitar and its features and asking if he should buy for Euro1500 (and they tell him yes): German Music forum
