• can someone help identify this one pls

hi all, I'm about to buy a model 1 from someone
he says it has a non recess floyd, bolt on, no pickguard, white finish, pointy headstock, reg nummer 300238
pic's should follow later

he's asking 300 euro's for it, what do you guys think of it?
(I will be testing it before buying that's for sure )

cheers

It's a model 2 it'd seem (assuming he thought it was a 1 because it has only one pickup).
If it has more than one pickup, it can be a 3 or a 4.
And 300 euros is fair for any of these.

then it could be a 2, it only has one pickup,
If 300 is a fair price and it's a good condition I can't wait to get my hands on it , he is about to show it through his webcam, I'll try to take some screenprints

one humbucker + v-trem + maple fretboard = Model 1
one humbucker + locking tremolo* + rosewood fretboard = Model 2

*Locking tremolo could be one of two tremolos. Kahler Fulcrum tremolo, used only in 1986. Jackson JT-6 (Licensed Floyd Rose style) used in 1987-1988.

it's defnetly a 2 then, it has a rosewood fretboard, I couldn't get a good look on the trem(wich looked a lot like a orig floyd) or the backplate(black and chrome I think), but I can tell you this, from what I could see on the cam, it looks sweet! I'm gonna try it (and maybe buy it ) this saturday, I'll post some pics here I'f I get my hands on it

dude those Model series Charvels are absolutely amazing guitars. I have a red Model 2 I bought new in 87, it has held up awesome and the neck is nirvana. definitely one to get if it is in anywhere near good condition.

good luck!

thx allot man,
a few questions about the neck though, does it have that "bump" on the back of the headstock(you know where you can rest your thumb easely, it's late and I forgot the name )
also, how is the fret board radius? flat or more towards a fender?

the bump is called a volute, and no it does not have one.
I'm not the best judge of fretboard radius, lemme tell ya. it's probably a little flatter than your standard Fender but by no means totally flat or uncomfortable to play.

The '86 Model 2 I had was always my favorite guitar. You can never go wrong with any of the model series.

It was stolen. I loaned it to a "friend" of mine that neglected to return it to me before disappearing to Colorado somewhere. It was a burgundy color I think it was called black cherry. The Kahler I had a few problems with. The brass rollers froze up and I had to completely disassemble it and rebuild. Luckily no screws or bolts snapped and it went back together as good as new. It had the sweetest neck and would scream like no other guitar I've owned. A very close second is my Model 3A (posted a pic in another thread) which I just finished refinishing and can't wait to get back together.

stealing a guitar is low! he better be haunted by guilt.

as for the one I am going to buy, the guy had to move it to next weekend
he's asking another 65 for the case(a guitar shaped charvel case) is he pushing it?

I think he does.. €365m,- is a lot for a model 2. Here in the Netherlands model 4's go for like 350/400.
I bought a black cherry Soloist Pro (in excellent shape) for €600,- from a Belgium dude. Keep 'em underpressure or go for a model 4.
