They never went back to the old logo on the imports--they stopped making Japanese Charvels in 1991-92. And, as far as I know, the toothpaste logo was never used on a USA-made Charvel. It would be fun to have the custom shop make one, huh? Maybe if I ever get around to having a custom-made repro of a 750xl, I have that logo put on.

Correct and incorrect on some aspects of this..

The Charvel line was retired completely in 1997. The CHS1, CHS2, CHS3, and CHS4 had the 6-in line guitar logo at that time. Then it was revived for imports in 2002. On these guitars, they used the USA styled guitar logo. (with 3 tuners on a side) Until they were retired in 2004.

I forgot about the Korean Charvels. Of course, I try not to think about those, so maybe that's understandable...

They definitely never went back to the toothpaste logo, though. I used to hate that logo, but nowadays I associate it with a higher level of quality--750xl, 650, Schaller trems, etc. etc.

They're not very much different than the Jackson imports at the time. Which I think was one of the factors in it's demise.

as a matter of personal taste, I never did like that big Jacksonized Charvel logo. I thought it was a marketing mistake then and I still think that. I know some of those guitars were killer and that's cool. but the company was not being run well in some aspects. oh well.
the guitar players look damaged - they've been outcasts all their lives
