Take a look on Gbase.com there are several 86-91 Japan Charvels there; I believe a 3DR Firecrackle, a model 6, a mod 4 ferrari red with a maple neck, and I think a couple more. They ain't goin for $199 though, most are running pretty high in the $400 range. Still worth a look the model 6 makes me want to sell my Aria LP Custom copy and pick it up. These Charvels are the guitars I've been looking for since I started playing, I just tried every body style, neck, etc.. and a strat felt the most right with the 25.5" scale. It just seemed like I was looking for a guitar(s) with a better, flatter neck and more balls, I picked up my first Charvel a couple of months back a 750Xl and recently a model 4 and I've finally found that right combination of feel, tone and comfortable playing position; only took me 20 years to get around to picking up a Charvel. Better late than never.

Thanks for the tip. You're right. There are a couple firecrackle guitars listed there. There was also a maple fretboard Model 4. Those aren't too common are they? Here's the link:

I am bidding on that one on e-bay now. I won a model 4 H-S-S crackle for a friend who took it yesterday(It was a replacement for one he lost in a house fire). It was killer!

I kind of want one for myself! It really played well. I think with a little neck work(it had a slight neck angle) and a grind/polish, it'd rip!

I 3DR Firecrackle?

Looks like I'll be adding a 3DR firecrackle to my stable [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] I won the non-toothpaste logo one on e-bay!

I might put an OFR on it with possibly a "hotter" bridge pickup. We'll see how the neck is.

This'll be cool, the red '82 SD pointy, the new blue san dimas blue one and this [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] woo hoo! I'll post pics when I get it.
