  • charvel or charvette

is there a easy way to tell the difference between
    bodies only
like model 3dr or predator or a lookalike charvette
red with black crackle hum bridge single neck
    one volume knob floyd rose
do the charvettes not have the scooped out backs
    by the neck

    Re: charvel or charvette

look for stamps in the neck pocket. Model numbers were often designated there.

If it's plywood, it's not a Charvel. But not all Charvettes were plywood either.

The full size 'guitar logo' era Charvels didn't have the contour behind the neckplate, but I believe the 3DR did(?) since it was a Dinky body. I'm not sure if Charvettes had the contour - weren't they all full size strat bodies?

The Model 3DR does not have the contour. Not all Charvettes were full-size strat bodies either.

With the info given here's what it could be...
Charvel Model 3DR - dinky body tremolo back routing.
Charvel Predator - dinky body fully recessed tremolo, sculpted heel
Charvel 275DLX - strat or dinky body recessed tremolo.
Charvette Model 188 - strat body WB2 tremolo routing, non recessed

Are any of the pickups slanted?

          Re: charvel or charvette

I'd say that's a 3DR body. The tremolo route is the "back routing" I mentioned.
