  • Can someone ID this?

There's a local shop with a Charvel model series and I can't figure out which model it is. It has a black strat body with 1 slanted single coil in the neck and a humbucker in the bridge. There's the Jackson Floyd, one volume knob and a miniswitch. Rosewood fb and Ft Worth neck plate. This is not a Dinky style but older strat style body. The headstock is not reversed either. Any ideas? Thanks!

Script logo? Mini switch or blade switch?

So far the evidence points to an early Charvel 275DLX.

Has the white guitar logo like the 80's Model series. It has a miniswitch.

I'll try to get a picture of it soon.

OK, then I'd say you have a modified Model 2.

I was thinking so too but if it was modified it's a damn good job. The route for the neck looks real good and the single coil is a Jackson. What model is the bridge humbucker in the model 2's?

            Thanks

Maybe it's a mutt, a 275 body with a Model series neck. Either way, the bridge humbucker is the Jackson J90C, really good and made in the USA.

Yes but wouldn't the 275 have a blade switch and not a mini toggle? I don't know but it's a cool guitar and I'm probably going to snatch it up. I've owned 3 Model 6's with Kahlers and I still kick myself for selling them! Thanks for all the input guys!

Here are some shots of the guitar in question. It's a great player!

looks like a modded 3DR mutt.

3DR had the reverse headstock and a Dinky body whereas that one is more Strat-like.

hence the mutt. If you swap out the neck and throw in a switchcraft 3 way toggle, you'd have something like this.
You'd have to pull off the neck to see what the pocket says for stamps on both pieces.

                              Re: Can someone ID this?

I still say a modified Model 2. I tend to go the 'path of least resistence' when trying to identify modified guitars. I'm saying Model 2 because all that's been added is a neck pickup and a mini-toggle switch. The Model 188 Charvette with a Charvel neck is ruled out because it has a blade switch.

The 3DR and the the predator both have dinky bodies and reverse headstocks. Along with that they have blade switches.

Now granted, if the neck pickup routing looks like it's original it is possible and likely that the guitar was re-painted after the routing. This could also cover up any other hole-repairs. So maybe some pics of the control cavity could help out.
