  • how do you tell...

what year a charvel model series guitar was made? obviously an 86 model is easy - it jhas a kahkler, but what about the 87 - 89 models? my model 2 has serial number 287074 so i'm guessing that means model 2 , 1987, 074? but then why is my model 4 230545? surely they would have used the same pattern of serial number or am i barking up the wrong tree?

They tell me the serial number trick only applies to the neck throughs ... my '87 Model 6 serial is ---

    C7033XX

The first number (7) signifies the year.

ok so by that system mine is an 88 model two with a gasket, R on both headstock, and on plate next to charvel logo

Thanks for the link dg! That puts my newly aquired Model 4 as an '87 (TM neckplate, R headstock).
