    how different are the bodies on model series guitars from 86 compaqred with other years? i ask because having an 86 and an 88 there is a noticeable difference in weight, and the 88 feels a slightly thinner and more contoured, with a brighter sound...am i imagining things? were the woods used changed at all?

    What specific models do you have? The bolt-ons were all full size strat shapes with the exception of the 3DR. All bolt-ons were basswood, but an '86 with a Kahler will probably be heavier than a later model with a JT-6 because much less wood is routed out for the Kahler. The brighter sound could also be more due to the different trem as well.

      the heavier one is 1 1986 model 4 , the lighter 1 an 88 model 2

        They are both the same wood. Probably the Kahler as stated above.
        My goal in life is to be the kind of asshole my wife thinks I am.

            Part of the difference could also just be the density of the wood. I'm sure it can vary a fair amount from guitar to guitar based on the age of the tree, geographic location, etc.

              yeah there's that too... i mean my mod 4 is really deep and heavy sounding whereas my mod 2 is really bright and spanky sounding
