Re: Did I do well?

Nice score! I wanted that red model 5 off ebay but it was far too beat for the $ he wanted.

I think buying a guitar like that, one that needs TLC makes you feel even better once you get everything sorted out. It's like adopting a homeless pet....you know you've done well.

    Enjoy it!

Yep, absolutely man! I can't wait to hear what this puppy sounds like when she's finished.

Now, anyone know of a source for ONE Kahler fine-tuning screw and a set of three (stock) black knobs? Any help would be appreciated.

If the the WD-40 doesn't free up the rollers you might try some PB Blaster it works great on rusted bolts.

              Re: Did I do well?

Cheers guys. The WD-40 hasn't worked. Next I'm going to try moving the rollers in a vice (cover them in rag), thanks to a suggestion by Neal Moser. Otherwise, I'll take the pins out. Oh yes, pics soon...

                  Re: Did I do well?

Well, I managed to bugger up one roller in the vice. So it's off to kahlerpartsusa.com. Ordered a complete new roller/saddle assembly. Only $25! Not bad I reckon. So it won't be long before she's back together.

Like JZ06 knows, this is my sad attempt at owning an SL2 Now if only it had sharkies...

Here's a quick "in progress..." shot. Looked like crap when I got her but now looks a bit more presentable Still awaiting a few pieces...

Thanks! It reminds me of the 40th anniversary Corvettes...

And here's how she turned out. Many thanks to Budman68!
I managed to get the action really low. Even lower than my Model 6. It plays really well, especially considering the condition it was in. I love the sound too. Quite different to the Model 6 but still great!

Here's some pics of how the new fine-tuners from Kahler differ from the OEM ones. The older version is slightly taller.
Left is the new one from KahlerPartsUsa.com. On the right is the original off my '86 Charvel Model 6/Kahler 2300.

They do feel different. But not enough for me to worry about.
I thought it was interesting that you don't get as much thread on the newer/replacement tuners...
