  • Odd charvel

I have an odd thing here. A neck thru toothpaste logod Charvel sea green 1 hum slanted single dual rail schaller floyd and nut.No binding pearl dots 24 frets.Looks like a fusion special but it has a 25.5 scale length. The hum cavity is a standard type not a dual single route and the hum is a covered Jackson (big ring). There is a recess trem cavity but the studs are forward of the route. So the trem is top mounted The thing thet throws me off is the serial #C805969.I have never seen an 88 with a toothpaste logo.
It definatly is not a refin just a puzzeling guitar. My wife has the camera on vaction and I can't get any pics up so that hurts the ID process. Were the Charvel fusions 243/4 scale or 251/2?
    Really? well screw Mark Twain.

Fusions are 24.75. That sounds like a 5FX.

I know in 89 the tooth pasted logo appeared(Iwas browesing the catalogs). The 5fx didn't have the scalloped lower body bout did it?I don't think the 5fx had the recess/topmount trem cavity. This looks like a fusion deluxe but the scale length is 25.5.Could this be a toothpaste logod 5fx?

        Does it look like this?

Ive got the opposite. Ive got a 650xl with the guitar shape model series logo. I guess it happens, possibly foreign market or transition piece. Its also got the small rout in the body under the top mount floyd (schaller). Is your serial number on the back of headstock or end of fretboard. Mines on the board.

Similar but the single cavity on mine is not tapered like that one.Trem cavity is the same tho'.The lower body bout has the fusion scallop. Its kind of a mix.

It's not a Fusion. They were bolt-ons only.

It's not a 5FX. They were a Model 5 variation, and so had the old guitar-shaped logo, like the one in the auction.

What you have is a 550XL. Sounds like an early one with the '88 serial, but otherwise stock standard.

Weird, I tried to edit out the "It's a 550XL" part of my post, but I can't. I miss the headscratch smily, too...

I guess its an early one because of the serial number. Thanks a lot fellas. Its one cool piece.

What would this model 550XL be if it is not a "neck-thru"? Because what ever that is....I got !

how many frets do you have, scaristei? 24 frets & short (24 3/4") scale would make it a Fusion Special; 22 frets & strat (25 1/2") scale and it's a 275

Thank you VitaminG - It has 24 frets - maple fingerboard - a shorter scale - and lots of fun to play and hopefully the link below will get you there to see it....And Sanctuary...that was clever!

I will have to correct my id on photo bucket.
