  • Which Floyd should I get on a model 6 ??

You are the experts. I'm replacing the JT-6 tremolo on my Charvel model 6, do I get the Floyd Rose Original Tremolo, or the Floyd Rose Low Pro Tremolo. I don't want to get the wrong one, thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've got a Gotoh on mine, and I like it better than the OFR!

      Hey Sanctuary-

What is the length of the sustain block on your Gotoh? Is it 37mm?

          Thanks!

Sorry for hijacking your thread, SGplayer, but I want to know, because I had attempted to put an OFR on my model 3A a few months ago. The sustain block on the JT-6 was 42mm, so I bought an OFR with a 42mm sustain block, which was too long. As my local guitar shops didn't have any 37mm blocks in stock, I ended up returning the OFR altogether.

You need the original, or even the Schaller kind will work, but NOT the Low Pro. The Low Pro requires a deep route for the trem, and the Model 6 doesn't have any kind of route since they were top-mounted. And for block size on the OFR, the 42 mm block works for the Model 6.

The later Model 650XL which came with a Charvel-branded Schaller actually had a little shorter block, 37 mm (at least mine did), which worked due to how they routed the spring cavity area.

I have an OFR on mine. 42mm block, which is standard for a non-recessed trem.

Interesting, just like Dana, I have a 42mm on my Model 6, Model 5a, and both 750's as well. Just thought I'd add a little "food for thought here!
