  • Model 5fx ?

This was just brought to me for a "back to life" set up.It hasn't seen the light of day in a long time.I believe it's a '88 M5fx.Is that the correct designation? And would that mean it's a JT6 bridge? Will it be easier to get the two string lock pieces I need or will I be better off getting him a whole new trem?Thanks...

The parts you need are right here, scroll down for JT-6 parts:

Dave is a member here (Budman68) and you can count on him to take great care of you.

Yep, 5FX. It was originally a 5A with only the humbucker, then some got sent back to the factory and had single coils added to the neck, some got tone controls, some didn't. Don't know what that extra mini switch is for, though. And how did the humbucker get melted?!?

Isnt that jt6 missing all the fine tuners and associated hardware? Might be cheaper to get a new trem. I have a "melted" jackson pickup too. Its the glue after the plastic cover is removed. It should peel right off.

That's just glue? The whole pup looks melted! When I took the cover off of my old Model 5A and Model 6, there was only a very tiny bit of glue to keep the cover on.
And, yeah, the fine tuners are missing. I'd just put a real Floyd in there and be done with it.

Its possible that someone tried to reglue the cover back on at one time. But mine has just as much glue on it too. I think that trem in the backround of the headstock pic would go nicely on there.

              Cool,thanks everybody.That Fretsonthenet link is a keeper.
I didn't even realize the fine tuners were missing,I just gave it a once over and set it aside. He decided he wants it blocked off anyway so I guess as long as I get a lock on there he can keep it.
That's the original glue from when he took the cover off.
Is there still a site with all the old catalogs scanned?I remember a couple from 3 or 4 years ago but I can't find them now.

JacksonMuseum is down now, unfortunately. I've got some scans here:

                http://dgibboney1.googlepages.com/cj-related

and there are some more really big scans linked in this section if you search or just look a few pages back.

+1. Nothing touches the good ol' OFR! And those guitars are good enough to deserve a quality replacement.
