This was just brought to me for a "back to life" set up.It hasn't seen the light of day in a long time.I believe it's a '88 M5fx.Is that the correct designation? And would that mean it's a JT6 bridge? Will it be easier to get the two string lock pieces I need or will I be better off getting him a whole new trem?Thanks...

Yep, 5FX. It was originally a 5A with only the humbucker, then some got sent back to the factory and had single coils added to the neck, some got tone controls, some didn't. Don't know what that extra mini switch is for, though. And how did the humbucker get melted?!?I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

That's just glue? The whole pup looks melted! When I took the cover off of my old Model 5A and Model 6, there was only a very tiny bit of glue to keep the cover on.
And, yeah, the fine tuners are missing. I'd just put a real Floyd in there and be done with it.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Cool,thanks everybody.That Fretsonthenet link is a keeper.
I didn't even realize the fine tuners were missing,I just gave it a once over and set it aside. He decided he wants it blocked off anyway so I guess as long as I get a lock on there he can keep it.
That's the original glue from when he took the cover off.
Is there still a site with all the old catalogs scanned?I remember a couple from 3 or 4 years ago but I can't find them now.

JacksonMuseum is down now, unfortunately. I've got some scans here:
http://dgibboney1.googlepages.com/cj-related
and there are some more really big scans linked in this section if you search or just look a few pages back.
