I'm looking for opinions on EMG's vs stock Jackson active pickups. Any comments appreciated.

Both are great. I think that the Jackson circuitry seems to suit me better for my 80's cranked mid's tone. The reason for that is because the most common Jackson active circuit is the JE1200 which is a mid-boost. EMG's are great though to. Either way, you'll get some sweet tone.

John, thanks for your input. I really like that cranked mid tone as well. Just wondered what the big deal was w/ the EMG's. I'm sure they're great but just probably not for me.Comment

Well, don't get me wrong you can get that tone with EMG's. I have a 650xl with EMG's, and the thing screams! It's really personal prefernce.Comment
