• Charvel neck Kahler lock

I have an import Charvel neck that has a Kahler Lock nut on it, this lock nut is similar in style to a Floyd Rose R2 lock nut. It is missing everything that makes it lock, no screws no clamps etc. I purchased the Floyd Rose replacement parts from Stewart McDonald only to find out they are not the same size; Floyds are larger parts. Anyone know where to find the correct parts for this? I'm trying to piece together a project and it might be nice to have the parts. Thanks in advance.

Is it the kind of nut that locks the string behind a phenolic(or what the hell theyre called, can't remember) nut or just a normal Floyd style nut? If it's the normal Floyd nut then just buy a new one from Stewmac.

If it's the other kind I'm sure some people on this board should have some spare parts

Kevin Easton has the factory locknuts that came on the model guitars for sale.

It looks like the one posted in deLuther's link. I found someone selling the screws and clamps on e-bay last night and I am hoping they are the right ones. I was building this guitar to sell on e-bay and wanted all the parts to be there but it looks like my daughter wants to claim it.

Duster, if you bought these http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ory=41407&rd=1
then you bought the wrong thing. These are for the behind the nut lock like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...&category=7266
The complete nut for yours looks like the nut that pictured with the bridge in this auction (same type as deLuther mentions):
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=41407

I have seen the clamps you need show on ebay in the past, but I searched for about an hour and don't see any up for auction now (either the clamps or the complete nut). The complete nut does pop up on ebay now and then so search everyday for the clamps or complete nut. FYI, these use 'american' thread screws, not metric, so if you find the clamps, you could get the screws at your local hardware dept in the allen head screw section.

Well I am the one that bought those pieces. Oh well I have the other style of Kahler lock nut in my pieces collection anyway. I may have to see if I can buy that whole tremolo. It would give me extra stuff for my Peavey Vandenberg.

Just a second thought, if I got Sperzel locking tuners would I really need to put the lock nut back together? I haven't really been dealing with tremolos for a while and am out of touch. This is going to be a guitar for a beginner (my daughter) who I'm sure will love to play with the bar so I'd like it to stay in tune as long as possible. Thanks for all the useful information so far.

You could go with Sperzel or Schaller locking tuners and be fine. Carvin uses Sperzels as standard on their guitars with Floyds (they offer a locking nut for an extra $10 or $20). A lot of guys at the Carvin board say they stay in tune just fine without needing a locking nut.
