I like my Model Charvels better in every respect

I know it has something to do with the fact that I have played Model Charvels for all but 3 months of the 15 years I've been playing (Damn 15 years and I still really really suck, I better start getting serious soon ) but still...

If I've only been playing 10 years and I still suck, does that make me the best off of the people in this thread?

Re: Blasphemy

I started playing in 1968 had a dry spell from 1976 thru 1984 and have been at it ever since.
Played in a band from 1970-1974 heavy stuff uriah heep, black sabbath, some classical based rock because our lead singer/keyboard was also trained in classical music so imagine tocatta and fuge in d minor with heavy drum and a wicked bass line and screaming lead guitar. But I was just the chunck in the middle of it all.Still cant rip out a good lead riff.
Really? well screw Mark Twain.

started at the age of 8, so that is almost 14 years now, but only 6 or 7 years seriously practicing. let's say, it is improving.

I also started at the age of 8. However, I didn't seriously start practicing until about junior high. Then, my sophomore year in college I had surgery on my right hand to repair the dislocation of all 4 of the metacarpals (had a lot of Scotch that night). I quit playing for a few years and just picked it up again seriously about 2 years ago. If only I could have all of that lost time back. By the way, my 650XL is currently my favorite guitar (over my two USA Hamers).

Re: Blasphemy

When I started playing (1974) there was no such thing as a Charvel. I was 10 years old and learned on a Fender Duo Sonic. (my first guitar).
I still remember those bridge saddles, looked like they were cut from pieces of all-thread!
Those were the days.
Oh and by the way, I still suck too.

That's because they were! If you thought they were bad on the Duo Sonic, try them on a Jazzmaster with .009's and no neck shim or Buzz Stop. "Plink" Oops, where's the string gone?

I had one lesson back in '81 I think. The guy showed me how to play the intro to "I'm Going Home" by Alvin Lee. No proper training = a good rhythm player, but lousy lead work. At least, in my case. When I hear guys like Word and Twisteramps, it makes me want to chuck 'em in a tree shredder!
