• Is $325 cnd for a Model 5a good?

I’ve found someone who is selling what I think is a Model 5a (strat shaped, neck through, locking trem, 1 humbucker) for $325 canadian ($234.88 US at current rates). It sounds like a fair price to me and I really want a neck through Charvel. Should I jump on it?

You can always get a new girlfriend, but model 5A's are hard to find!

If you don't like it, or she doesn't, you could always flip it to me in Vancouver!!

Re: Is $325 cnd for a Model 5a good?

Well I picked it up last Friday. I had to travel about 2 ½ hours each way (it wasn’t that easy to get around with the blackout and all) on a bus to get it, but it was well worth it. The guitar is in really good shape except for a couple of dings in the body, the frets aren’t worn that much at all. A couple of small modifications were also made to the guitar. A mini switch was added to enable coil spitting and a tone control was also added. The serial number is C800747, which means it was manufactured in 1988 I believe. I’ll post some pics of it when I get them. Thanks for encouraging me to buy my first Charvel!

Congrats! The bright side of the long busride during the blackout is that the bus was probably the only place with air conditioning! It's hot even in Canada right now, isn't it?

Way to go, man!

Well now you have a comfort plan if the power goes out again! Ride the bus with your new 5A!

Rattlehead, you must live in the mountains near a glacier - "sleeping ice giant" has to be that, eh? Are you seeing the glacier melt from global warming? Anyway, I don't think there're any glaciers close to Toronto, are there?
You're probably closer to Dave and Steve
in BC?

Yah I guess it was somewhat of a relief to be on an air-conditioned bus during the blackout. The temperature in the Toronto area was around 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Farenheit), with the humidity around 60%.

RattleHead, are you kidding about the snow? Where are you located?
