Did Charvel make a Model 3 with a maple board and Kahler Fulcrum? I thought that only Models 1, 1A, 1C, 4M & 7 had maple boards.

Re: Model 3M?
OK, here we go again. The model 3 was available with maple fretboard and Kahler fulcrum. I have (had) two them, one of which Fritz just bought. My goal in life is to be the kind of asshole my wife thinks I am.

Re: Model 3M?
As I just posted in the other thread, mine are not model 3's, they are 2D's. Hell I never heard of a 2D but I got this info from a very reliable source. Go figure! I have always thought these were model 3's. Now I know.My goal in life is to be the kind of asshole my wife thinks I am.

Re: Model 3M?
Yeah, I'd really like to know for sure too. I have a bunch of these old model series guitars and I enjoy learning as much as I can about them. What about the control pot placement? Something's up there.

Re: Model 3M?
Tekky, I really don't have any solid proof but
I have a friend in Tulsa that has a guitar identicle to this one and he swears his has 2-D stamped in the neck pocket. He's really not the type to make something like that up, plus I looked in my 86 Charvel catalog and the model 3 in there has the vol and tone knobs located toward the bottom of the pick guard, mine had them located higher and more centered to the slider switch. That's the only difference I can tell besides the maple board. I was going to take this one apart just to see but Fritz just wants me to ship it to him. It really doesn't look like its ever been disassembled to me.My goal in life is to be the kind of asshole my wife thinks I am.

Re: Model 3M?
No, no, no. I'm not saying anyone's making it up. I'd just like to get all resources here.
I'm sure everyone knows by now that I'm working on the "New-hotness" MOAIP. So, as much substantiated info I can get, the better.
In regards to the Model 3M vs Model 2D debate, I'm still thinking about that one. It has a full-on Model 3 body, right down to the Kahler fulcrum tremolo offered back in 86 and the pickguard also only offered in that year...
