The dude whos selling it said he'll take app. 25 bucks off the price, which is the cost of having the singlecoil-route routed for a hummer [img]graemlins/poke.gif[/img]

I think I'm gonna buy it. He's asking ca. 350 dollars for it, and he's gonna include a Bill Lawrence humbucker. That's a good price for a place where charvels are rare(r).

I know Duncan does, in fact the hot/coolrails, jb jr, li59 seem to be produced with/without lips in some sort of random fasion

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">the reason I was confused, was because I just bought a secondhanded lil' sreaming demon for the neck, and it had no "lip" like you described. So I figured that hotrails would have the same baseplate, without the lip. So yes, I have seen those thingies without lip [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]

A Dremel tool will take care of the lipped problem. You can, with caution, grind the lip down and free the wires up.
I did it with a 5FX and a Performer 'Schorcher' (Hot Rail copy)and it works just fine.

Yep, I've cut the lips off too, works great!
