• Help me identify this Charvel please...

I just bought this used Charvel for $100 bucks from Guitar Center. Here is what I know of it:

- It "looks" like a model 3 with a red body and black pickguard.

- It has a Bridge Humbucker and two single coils H-S-S

- It has one volume and one tone control and a 5 way selector switch

- It has the Charvel guitar logo on the pointy headstock

- The neck plate is missing, but due to the price I assume it is a japanese made model (We all know that GC isn't an authority on anything, though.)

- It has a Floyd Rose tremelo system.

Could you help me narrow it down?
Thanks

Tekky, if you put the weasel down, it would be easier to type.

LOL...

Dat's a Chicago accent. We're unable to say the word 3, it's pronounced "tree".

Gotcha. I'd forgotten about your Chicago roots!

Roots? I'm a firmly planted tree here. (not 3)

You said it had a pick guard. Most of the Model 3s I've seen with a pickguard have a the Kahler floating bridge (I think it's call a traditional). Does the bridge look like it's been changed out.

Also, if the guitar logo has the pointy headstock and says "By Jackson/Charvel" under it, it's is a jap model. IMHO, the Model Series guitars are the best value out there. Superior craftmanship that stands up against any import and many of the USA models available today. $100 bucks sounds like a great deal to me. I would have bought it.

Well, it's a beater. It looks to have a Duncan or Dimarzio in the bridge position and the whole set up needs tlc. I am confident I can make a player out of it. If not I will just take it back to GC...

I was thinking that as well, but it could be
a) a transitional piece
or
b) a retro-fitted floyd

Pics would definitely help.
