  • Made in...

So I have enjoyed my (made in China) Charvel CS20 for a couple of weeks now but there is no information available other than Tekky provided me. I wonder if someone can point out some info on the net or tell some stuff about this little monster. In example I'd like to know:

    - In what period were Charvels produced in China?
    - How do the Chinese import's quality compare to e.g. today's Jackson imports (Japan, India etc.)?
    - What is known about the J125 and the J60 pickups?
    - How much would a CS20 cost when bought in the store?
    - Can someone make a scan of the advertisement of the CS10/CS20?

The stupid thing is that I've grown in love with my CS20. It was dirt-cheap but the construction is very tough (like most traditional strats) so I bring it everywhere I go, not worrying for it to take a beating.

I have NEVER heard of Chinese import Charvels so I want to find out about it. I am sure that one of you knows everything about them...

    Thanks for your help,

    Ize

You sure Charvel had a plant in China?! Never knew of such a thing...

I've never heard of any J/Cs being made in China either. The only chinese "Jackson" I've ever seen was an utterly crappy pirate copy.

The CS series from the mid-'90s were made in China.

I honestly believe it was Korea. That is where my CHS2 was made. I bought it new in 96 IIRC.

Tekky said it would be China and when I picked it up it had a 'made in china'-sticker on the back of the heel.

I guess I don't have any credibility here.

Someone here had a Dinky one time that had a Made In Indonesia sticker on it, and it had a sharkfin inlay on the 24th fret as well.

Tekky, if you said it was made of clay and wired with bananapeel I wouldn't question it for one second!

Is it true Custom Shop clay and banana peels?
