• Kahler Trem Parts ?

Hi Guys ! I bought a great Candy Apple Red '87 Model 5 with a Kahler Trem. I'd like the trem bar to be tight but I feel like I'm ringing a dinner bell in the hozzle for it. Can you tell me where I can get that replacement part in Black ? Thanks !

The hozzle, as I call it, is what the tremolo bar slides down into. If you have a better word, insert that for this insertion point. So where can I get one ? Bud ? Thanks again.

Re: Kahler Trem Parts ?

Kahler trems have threaded bars, not the slide-in type. You sure it's not a JT-6 trem, seeing it's a 1987 model?

If it IS a JT-6, Easton Guitars has the pop-in bars, or you can convert it to the Floyd-style collared screw-on bars. If it is a Kahler Pro and the threads are loose, you can shop Ebay or here for parts, and Teflon tape would probably solve the problem until you can get a new
bar.

Kahler Pro/Standard Cam trems use a standard USA Fender Strat trem arm (10-32 thread).

Hey, all I can tell you is that if I take the trem bar out there are no threads and it looks like a flat head screwdriver slot on top of this piece and a nut on the bottom of the floating trem unit. I'm sure it's a Kahler, so dig deeper. I'd be happy to send anyone a picture if desired.

It won't look like any of the above and it isn't a Kahler, it's a JT6.

Thanks to all of you and I must have been mistaken. The trem does say Jackson on it. The exact trem I have on my Model 5 is shown on the Red guitar in the picture on the topic "Group shot of my Charvels" a few below this one. Perhaps that's a JT6.

* BTW, how far through is the neck through on these guitars ?

Re: Kahler Trem Parts ?

The neck goes all the way through, but I guess the trem cavity route interrupts it, technically. As far as the sloppy arm goes, you have a few options. The plastic bushings on the arm itself may be worn. They can be easily replaced. Ibanez bushings are easy to find & they fit. If you want, you can just get an Ibanez push-in arm, as it will fit the JT-6. If the socket itself is causing the sloppiness, you may be able to tighten it. There is a nut on the underside of the plate. You'll probably have to remove the trem to get at it with a wrench. Many people replace the arm & socket with a collared Floyd Rose kit available from Allparts, Stewmac, and many guitar stores with a good parts dept. I did this on my Model 6, with the help of the guys here. Here is a link to the discussion where they helped me out. It includes a link to the arm kit at either Allparts or stewmac. Good luck, and we still want to know: wtf is a hozzle?

Re: Kahler Trem Parts ?

ACTUALLY, I am SUPPOSED to be an "Authorized Kahler Dealer"...

... BUT ...They have FALLEN OFF of the FACE of the EARTH !!!!

They USED to have a WEBSITE at www.kahlerinternational.com , and were located at 520 S. Claudina St. in Anaheim...They had {or so I've HEARD} ventured into tool manufacture or bowling pin setter machines or bowling balls and equipment or SOME DAMN THING for a period, and THEN I had found the website, and my Sales Rep - Scott Miller - was running the tremolo end as a one-man show...I'd have to e-mail him, or leave a message on the answering machine, and it would sometimes take DAYS or WEEKS to hear back...ALL that they were carrying {and these parts were ALL ONLY AVAILABLE in BLACK or CHROME {NO GOLD}...Was Kahler Pros, saddle sets for the Pros, threaded bars, and they had the locking nuts in the BUNKENSTEIN regular units {like C/Js used} with the 3 screws that had slotted heads, and they ALSO had the Thumb-Lok type...{I think ONCE - I had him SCARE UP a HANDFUL of bass trem SPRINGS for me - and {as I remember}, Scott had said that they had taken the last few Original Equipment springs and had some tool and die guy or SOMEONE in LA make some up}...

...About a year or so ago, I had gotten some parts for JCFers Brett8388 and Charvel750, and it had taken WEEKS...About 9 months ago, Scott told me they were moving the operation SOUTH of the Anaheim-Long Beach location {as I remember, it was down towards Newport Beach or Laguna Beach...About that time, I had ordered 5 saddle sets for my mentor - Dan Lenz at www.axehaven.com, and had paid by CREDIT CARD...{ MY BAD !!! }...It took 3 to 4 MONTHS until they SHOWED UP !!!!!!...

I have NO EARTHLY CLUE WHERE they are NOW !!!

... I DO ...however...have a SMALL STASH of NOS BLACK thread-in OEM Kahler bars, and I am SOMEWHAT RELUCTANT to cut ANY of THOSE LOOSE...

...I DUNNO...Try SWEET-TALKIN' ME !!!!
