• Info needed on my 475!

Hey everybody. I was wondering about my old Charvel... it´s got serialnumber 334557 and the tootpaste-logo. What year is it made, what wood is it made from.... all info welcome, thanks in advance!

Probably made in 1991, poplar wood. A pic would help, in 1990 the 475's still used the large/oversized pickup bezel. Sometime in 1991 they went to a standard sized bridge pickup bezel.

Re: Info needed on my 475!

Most people on the JCF think the 2nd generation Charvel imports were made of basswood. Untrue, the bodies are most definitely poplar, I've been saying it for years. The original MOAIP was laced with errors, of which the body woods was one. I've had two 1991 Charvel 475 models stripped to the wood, it's poplar. I've seen countless others that were that way too, from dings and nicks exposing the open wood. Has anyone here ever seen both woods before? If you really have, you'd know.

All of them? Do you have any way to verify this?

I thought the 475 was made of basswood (like the model 4)...
