Matt, for your information regarding exposed binding: I've had exposed binding (scraped & sanded & oiled) on a guitar for over two years now and there has been no change in color. Perfectly white. Mind you, I don't play guitar with dirty hands

The binding can be seen here before and after my scrape job:

Thats looks really nice, but i have now had the guitar sent off to be painted, with the binding still yellow, so i think ill just leave it, might be a nice contrast to the pearl white im painting it and the yellow/ cream binding, thanks for the info!!!

looking at buying a case for the model 6, anything i should watch out for? do the pointed and sloped back headstocks cause a problem, do i need a special case???
looking at something like this one: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....MEWA%3AIT&rd=1
          thanks all

I also have a seymour duncan syngle coil ready to put in the middle, does a humbucker in the bridge and a stacked humbucker in the neck sound like a good set up? or will the neck stacked humbucker sound the same as the bridge??
          open to suggestions.

Usually when I see this MUCH CHEAPER THAN ANY OTHER CASE ON THE MARKET

I tend to run away. Case doesn't look form-fitting.

If you're not interested in putting Jackson single coils in there, you can very carefully trim down the excess, taking care not to damage the wires.

You'll find that many of the more popular single coils are also available in 'tabless' versions. You will have to order them that way though.

Ok, new plan, i think ill have the evolution humbucker in the bridge, put a hotrail in the neck, and put one of the origonal j-200's in the middle as a dummy pickup, and use the middle toggle switch to turn the hotrail into a single coil, i think that will work, i hope so, sounds good to me anyway.

I picked up the dimarzio evolution yesterday, all new, and for $50 Australian, so i guess thats like $35 US, never opened, but it didnt have any springs inside???
Does anyone know what these sound like coil tapped? thinking of using one of the mini switches for a coil tap, and the other just normal on/off for it in series, so ill have 2 mini switches controling the humbucker, and one for the neck pickup, if i put a neck pickup in at all.
Does this sound like a good idea? Could i leave the neck pickup out as well (just use a dummy pickup) and have a phase switch also connected? what sound would that give me? Please give any ideas or advice.
                      Thanks

just bought this nut, it seems to fit the space well, a little thinner than the older one but i guess that wont matter too much, the only thing is the holes dont line up with the old holes that are there to hold the other nut in place, should i just drill new holes for the new nut, without filling in the old ones, or try and fill the old holes with dowl or whats my best option, leave it for my guitar tech to work out???

Try NOT to drill any extra holes. i know you're on a budget, but that guitar deserves Schaller hardware for the nut and trem.

Well its going to have to have new holes, i cant find that kind of nut anywhere, and with the LFR trem in there i think it'll work out ok, if i dont like the locking style bridge, im going to put a floating in.
The Dimarzio will be the only pickup working in the guitar, im going to have the three switches as series, parallel and single coil.

Sounds like its coming along matt. I may have a proper charvel locking nut which would fit those holes. Will check for you.
BTW thanks for that pickup ring and pots.

That would be super Badams, and no probs for the other stuff, hope it all fits and sounds great.
