They are out there. You just need to look. Get a nut that fits your guitar properly instead of picking up any old thing on ebay and modifying your guitar to suit. Especially when you don't need to.

if i dont like the locking style bridge, im going to put a floating in.
What do you mean? The trem you bought is a locking style bridge, which will be setup to float when you install it. Unless, of course, you block it so that it doesn't float, as many here do. If you plan to block it, you don't really need to worry about your locking nut.

what i meant was a non locking bridge, ive never used a locking style, duno if i will like it.
The nut can always be changed, im looking but id rather play it than have it sit in a corner for 3 months waiting for 1 little thing, i guess i could just not lock it at the nut end, then when i do find it swap it over.
I guess ill ask my guitar tech to see what he thinks
      cheers

Does anyone know what these sound like coil tapped? thinking of using one of the mini switches for a coil tap, and the other just normal on/off for it in series, so ill have 2 mini switches controling the humbucker, and one for the neck pickup, if i put a neck pickup in at all.
Does this sound like a good idea? Could i leave the neck pickup out as well (just use a dummy pickup) and have a phase switch also connected? what sound would that give me? Please give any ideas or advice.
          Thanks
You can get a push-pull tone pot to split the humbucker, that way you don't have to use one of the switches. I do use my middle pickup sometimes, don't have a problem picking over it as I use economy of motion when I pick. If you do need it lowered though, consider using a hotter pickup so that lowered it'll still match levels. If you do decide to go with a dummy there though, you could then use that switch, or at least the right switch in its place, to coil tap the neck pickup.

well with around 10 days to go until i get it back, long story with another shop being understaffed and it not being touched for 2 weeks, so off to another store.
Will have the 3 switches working with the 1 pickup, and the floyd installed, with some shims up the nut end to help with the non origonal lock nut height.
The guy at the store was excited to work on such a great old guitar.
Wish i could speed up time, i want it back!

ok, things are getting stuffed up right left and centre!!!
No pickup ring for it, one is in place for the time being but ill have to order a NOS one, bugger, shouldn't have gotten rid of the original
second thing is the block on the LFR is too short, means the springs are resting on the body at the back, so until i either find a longer block or another FR, ill have to block it off so it doesnt move, not a big issue as i dont use the whammy at all really.
The third thing im kinda worried about, the bridge is sitting above the body, maybe 5mm's, otherwise the strings dont have the space to clear the pickup, is this normal on the model 6's?? im guessing no but the guys at the guitar shop said its the way it has to be???
There is a khaler trem im bidding on here in australia, i hope i win it to either get the block off or swap the trem completly, damn thing is causing so many problems
Any help with these issues would be greatly appreciated, i cant get photos atm, but possibly monday ill have the guitar back with me.

you can get a pickup ring to suit from fretsonthenet.com

the problem with picking up no-name licensed Floyds from ebay is that you might get a short-block, suitable-for-recessing Floyd when you need the longer non-recessed style for a Model 6. If you intend to be another licensed Floyd, make sure you ask if it is suitable for your guitar. I'm not sure that the block off a Kahler will bolt straight up to your licensed Floyd.

Is the problem that the strings won't clear the pickups, or that they will fret out when you lower the bridge? You should be able to lower the pickups so that they aren't a problem, but even with a truss rod adjustment it's likely that the bridge will still sit above the face of the guitar. I haven't seen one where the Floyd is actually sitting on the front of the guitar, although it might be that I just haven't seen the right Model 6 yet.

ok, so the jt-6 is on the way, and ive done some reading of old posts, seems there is either love or hate for these trems.
What do i need to watch out for with this trem? i dont dive bomb so i dont care about that (yet) but do i need string blocks or do the strings go through the back like a OFR?? anyone got a nice clear picture of a jt-6 and thoughts on them?

I did, and im still confused, im guessing just like a FR through the back

No, the strings do not go through the back, they dont on a FR either unless you have one of those cheap rear loading single locking ones. You have to cut the ball ends off, stick the ends in the saddle from the top and then lock them down with the bolts that protrude out the back. The bolts just look like that because they are combination lock bolt/fine tuner. Also, you cant see the string lock blocks because they have covers attached to them. Once you get the trem it will become clear to you. Its a decent trem until it wears out as its prone to do as it wasnt made of the best materials. But unless youre a wammy master it should work fine for you.

Thanks Carbuff, im sure it will become clear like you said.
I dont dive bomb my heart out so it should stand the test of time, and when it dies ill go all out with a OFR.
